Danantara mobilizes SOEs network as deadly hydro-meteorological disasters hit Sumatra
State investment management agency Danantara Indonesia has raised deep concern over the severe hydro-meteorological disasters striking multiple regions across Sumatra, where the government has declared an emergency following days of extreme rainfall that triggered flash floods and landslides, causing widespread devastation.
Official reports indicate at least 22 fatalities and more than 20,700 residents displaced, with thousands of homes inundated or swept away as rivers overflowed and critical infrastructure collapsed.
Given the scale of the disaster, Danantara said a rapid, coordinated response across institutions is essential.
Danantara Indonesia activated its emergency coordination network on the first day of the disaster, working closely with state-owned enterprises operating in the affected regions.
“We moved early to ensure that basic needs are met, critical access is restored, and recovery can begin without delay,” Managing Director for Stakeholders Management at Danantara, Rohan Hafas said during a media gathering on Friday, November 28, 2025.
Teams deployed in the field supported evacuations, delivered food and clean water, provided basic medical supplies, and restored access to isolated areas. Heavy equipment was mobilized to clear roads blocked by landslides, while technical units worked to reestablish power and telecommunications to ensure uninterrupted coordination among responders.
In West Sumatra, State-owned Enterprises (SOEs) entities including Pegadaian, Semen Padang, BNI, Hutama Karya, Angkasa Pura, PLN, and Pertamina have distributed humanitarian aid since the earliest stage of the crisis.
Relief packages included food, drinking water, medicine, clothing, baby supplies, cooking tools, and emergency tents. Rubber boats and excavators were deployed to support evacuations and reopen access routes cut off by flooding and landslides.
These collective contributions helped stabilize conditions in the first critical days and ensured logistical support reached affected communities quickly.
A similar coordinated response was initiated in North Sumatra through Pegadaian, BRI, BNI, Inalum, Angkasa Pura, BTN, KIM, Pertamina, and PTPN.
Assistance included food supplies, clean water, medical kits, clothing, kitchen equipment, and baby essentials. Rescue teams used rubber boats to reach isolated communities, while tents were prepared for temporary shelters. Fuel supplies were also provided to support heavy equipment operations and accelerate the reopening of damaged transport links.
“With swift action during the emergency phase and a structured recovery plan, Danantara and its SOE partners aim to help affected communities return to normal as quickly as possible,” Rohan said.
He added that Danantara’s role extends beyond managing investments and national strategic assets, reflecting the company’s commitment to long-term reconstruction and resilience-building.
