Indonesia concludes COP30 Pavillion with 2.75 MT of carbon investment interest
Indonesia officially closed its COP30 Pavilion in Belém, Brazil, on Friday, November 21, 2025 marking the end of a two-week showcase of the country’s climate actions and carbon governance progress.
Throughout the 30th UN Climate Change Conference (COP30), the Indonesia Pavilion recorded 2.75 million tons of CO₂e in carbon purchase or investment interest, sourced from 12 climate projects ‒ eight in the energy sector, three in forestry and other land uses (FOLU), and one in waste management. The Pavilion also featured 44 carbon credit projects and 28 project proponents.
“The Carbon Connection initiative proves that Indonesia has moved from the stage of negotiation to implementation, opening financing access for mitigation–adaptation actions and delivering positive impacts for local communities,” Ary Sudijanto, Deputy for NDC Implementation and Carbon Economic Value Governance at the Ministry of Environment/Living Environment Control Agency, said as quoted in a statement on Saturday, November 22, 2025.
This year's Pavilion carried the theme “Accelerating Substantial Actions of Net Zero Achievements through Indonesia’s High Integrity Carbon.” It served as a strategic diplomatic platform to demonstrate Indonesia’s concrete contribution to reducing global emissions through high-integrity carbon governance.
Over the course of the conference, the Indonesia Pavilion attracted more than 5,000 visitors, hosted over 50 discussion sessions, and featured 69 national and international speakers. It also secured over 100 collaborative partners and sponsors, alongside more than 20 bilateral meetings that led to follow-up cooperation in climate action, forestry, and sustainable development.
In his closing remarks, Ary appreciated the Government of Brazil and the UNFCCC Secretariat for hosting COP30, and extended gratitude to partners, delegates, and visitors who contributed to the Pavilion’s success.
During COP30, the Ministry of Forestry organized eight flagship sessions at the Pavilion, covering:
● Social forestry;
● Indigenous Forest commitments;
● Forest fire prevention;
● World Mangrove Center;
● Multi-enterprise forestry;
● Voluntary Carbon Market (VCM);
● Plantation forest development;
● International Tropical Peatlands Centre (ITPC).
These sessions reinforced Indonesia’s commitment to forest governance that is integrity-driven, inclusive, and sustainable, underscoring the country’s ambition to play a leading role in global climate solutions.
