Hasan Nasbi back in office at President's request
Chief of the Presidential Communications Office (PCO), Hasan Nasbi, has formally returned to his post after previously announcing his resignation.
Hasan made the announcement of his returm after attending a plenary Cabinet meeting at the Presidential Palace in Jakarta on Monday, May 5, 2025.
"So far, I have been ordered to continue leading the PCO. As of today, I am back in the office at the PCO," Hasan Nasbi said when confirmed by Indonesia Business Post, on Tuesday, May 6, 2025.
Hasan's decision to return to his position as Head of the PCO came upon direct request of President Prabowo Subianto.
In the plenary Cabinet meeting on Monday, which was also attended by Hasan, President Prabowo was seen greeting Hasan directly, indicating the strengthening of Hasan’s political position and the president’s trust in him in the ranks of government communications.
Hasan was reluctant to answer directly when asked whether his resignation letter had been rejected by the President. He only suggested that the question be addressed to Minister of State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi.
Previously, in a video uploaded to the Total Politikpodcast on Tuesday, April 29, 2025, Hasan tendered his resignation on April 21, 2025. He emphasized that the decision was not taken hastily, but based on mature consideration.
"I have come to a very mature conclusion, namely that it is time to get off the field and sit in the stands. It is time to give a better person the opportunity to take over," he said.
Hasan Nasbi began serving as Head of PCO since the transitional government period on August 19, 2024. He continued serving the post after being appointed by President Prabowo on October 21, 2024.
